Peer Tutoring
Let's read the story again please!
In Scoil an Linbh Iosa we operate a Peer Tutoring Programme annually. This involves pairing an infant pupil with a senior class pupil and together they read aloud daily in school over a given period. This programme helps to develop confidence and forms bonds between junior and senior pupils in our school. Well done to all of our pupils who participated in this programme!
Shared Reading
Certificates for our Shared Readers!
Every year in Scoil an Linbh Iosa First Class pupils and their parents are invited to participate in a Shared Reading Programme. This is a programme involving a parent/guardian and their child reading together for a short time each day. The parent/guardian and child read the same story aloud together, at the same time. We run this programme over a six week period and the programme helps the child to develop confidence in becoming an independent reader. This year a large number of pupils and parents were involved and they all enjoyed their reading time together.
Our School Assembly
In our school we meet every month for assembly with our Principal Mrs. Ryan and all the teachers. We have an infant assembly and a senior assembly. We really look forward to this each month as at this time we are awarded with a different certificate for our efforts during the month. Mrs. Ryan also informs us of school news, best class in the hall and best class attendance for each month. We all try our best to win these awards!

At the end of each month Rooms 5 and 12 have an Irish tablequiz together – Tráth na gCeist. Each team has one member from 3rd, 4th 5th and 6th class. The questions are based on that month’s class work. The winners receive a small prize, a photograph and a certificate.
